Ghosts of Ruin is a gritty, dystopian, action animated series

In the near-future tech dystopia of San Francisco, the Tournament of Ruin is about to debut a brand new fully immersive technology – Neural Reality! Lee wins the opportunity to join the ranks of 100 of the world’s best gamers competing in a team battle royale.

Lee is in way over his head, and no one knows that there’s something inside the game – something brutal and murderous– something that is hunting them one by one.

It’s like the game is haunted somehow. There’s a secret here that runs much deeper than anyone suspects. The dream quickly turns into a nightmare when the players mysteriously lose their ability to log out. Lee and company must survive long enough to crack the secrets of Neural Reality before they lose their minds and become the ghosts of Ruin.

Meet the Characters

Lee Character Card_Website.jpg

Age: 22

Profession: Pro Gamer (more like semi-pro, but he’s getting there - hopefully…)

Lee is the good guy (but really, he's an actual good person). He's the boy next door - good with people, but sometimes a little awkward. He's goofy in a charming way! A small-time gamer with only a few hundred viewers per stream, he doesn’t take much in life too seriously. His philosophy is that games are supposed to be fun, so why stress? He would rather laugh, make some friends, and have a good time than get all hyper-competitive and aggressive playing a game. Even if labeled "a casual" by other competitive gamers, he's the one with the invite to join the Tournament of Ruin (after a last minute vacancy). He is an outsider on his own team, and in over his head, making him an easy target.

Jugg Character Card_Website.jpg

Age: 24 (but so much younger and so much older simultaneously)

Profession: Influencer / Gamer

Juggernaut is a tour de force fission reactor compacted in a 5’2” frame. When it comes to energy, she is unmatched and often steals the attention from others (and she doesn't hate the attention either). She has made a name for herself as a content creator and explosives enthusiast. She is irreverent, hyper, and extremely charming. Jugg's followers love her for her trickster antics and the way she messes with other content creators. She is best friends with Castle, her Battle Royale teammate - but actually, they have been gaming together since before they could walk. Don’t underestimate her because behind that wicked smile and bedazzled grenade launcher is a shrewd and cunning mind. She's there to play, and she won't stop until she wins (playing to the crowd the entire time).

Assassin Character Card_Website.jpg

Age: 28

Profession: Pro Gamer (correction: THE Pro Gamer)

Assassin is ruthless. He is the world’s most famous e-sports athlete with a fan base that dwarfs that of his closest competition. He made a name for himself by winning tournament after tournament, at any cost. He adapts to any situation instantaneously and there isn’t a weapon he can't handle. Assassin knows how to exploit his enemies by predicting their every move - when he sees a weakness, he strikes. He believes that only the strongest deserve to survive. But Assassin wasn’t born a cruel person. As a young boy, he witnessed his mother's brutal murder and had to go live with his estranged father. Amidst a sea of abuse, he learned that cruelty, not morality, was the best way to protect yourself, and always come out on top.

Age: 26

Profession: Pro Gamer (in top 10 best in the world… looking to take the title of Number One)

Prism is in charge, always has been. She's the leader for her squad (to which Lee gets added last minute, replacing Prism’s brother Aiden). She is NOT happy about this, but she can't let it get in her way. Prism is the epitome of focus. She has been a pro gamer since she was sixteen and has rarely lost a competitive match - a streak she doesn't plan on breaking. She shuts ‘em up and shuts ‘em down — leading by example, giving her teammates both a role model and a partner.

As the big sister, Prism has always looked after Aiden, and this is the first time she's felt truly helpless. Prism is heartbroken over her brother's mental health struggles (caused by the mysterious "incident" in Ruin), and furious that she can't get answers as to what's going on. She doesn’t trust Dr. Brennan, Dr. Tucci or Marcus (the trio running Ruin) and knows that they have been lying to her about Aiden’s condition.

Solo_Castle_with background (1).jpg

Age: 24

Profession: Pro Gamer

Castle is a fierce warrior with a soft side. He grew up needing to be tough at a much too young age. It was either beat or be beaten. Since he was always a big kid, violence became his answer (whether protecting himself or his best friend, Jugg). However, after killing someone with his bare hands, he went to Juvie for manslaughter. He went into a deep depression full of self-loathing for what he had done. It was during this time that he discovered the practice of martial arts, where he learned to control his rage rather than letting it control him.

He vowed that he would never again intentionally harm another human being. Castle is thoughtful, spiritual, and a protector. He is loyal to the last drop of blood, which makes him indispensable to team leader, Prism.

Yara Character Card_Website.jpg

Age: 22

Profession: GAMER / BETA TECH

Yara is the real deal. She comes from one of the poorest and roughest neighborhoods in town where there are two options - let the system kill you or fight the system. Her badass demeanor isn't an act; it's a deeply seeded emotional armor that she had to build as a child, allowing her to face an unrelentingly dark world. The dangers in the game don't frighten Yara. She loves the idea of charging into the face of anything that gets in her way. She’s the right-hand lead on Assassin’s TEAM… but don’t hold that against her. Yara is consistently one of the top gamers in the world and she knows it. She's hyper-competitive, and will destroy anyone that gets in her way - which is only natural because she's been doing that her entire life. But Yara is more than just tough - she likes and respects Aiden but enjoys teasing him, as he's a little tightly wound. She's a genius judge of character and loyal friend.
